Relationships
The only people Ethel has interacted with since they were a Changeling would be their ‘sisters,’ the rest of the Fairies. The relationships among the fairy ‘sisters’ is difficult to classify. To a certain extent they are coworkers, they work together to accomplish tasks given to them via telecommunication. But at the same time, they are lifemates, family. Furthermore, they are taught to and often consider themself and their sisters all extensions of the same being. Many have known eachother for nearly all their lives. They will only ever know each other. Once pupated Fairies very rarely, if EVER, speak to Sylphs for extended periods of time. She is closest with her sisters from the same and following generation of Changelings as herself; Gwendl, Elfreda, Noble, Kenelm, Thorpe and Raleigh. They, like most clusters of Fairies, are considerably close. They tell eachother everything (as far as Ethel knows,) spend what little moments of rest they have together, and are typically very physically and verbally affectionate. But at the same time, they are of course very unchallenging relationships. They have all been educated and conditioned in identical manners. If any have any misgivings about their situation they wouldn’t dare voice it, for fear of being labeled Unseelie.
Ethel is also, (in their own opinion,) very close with the Coven Father, he who oversees the fairies and their work. They cherish, respect and worship him.
Ethel will have no clue how to relate or communicate with someone who hasn’t had the exact same life circumstances as themself. She has never had to speak with anyone who she didn’t consider an extension of themself.
Character Goals
What does your character want? They want to return to the Spheres and continue their work.
What are their flaws?
They are used to knowing everything they need to know, but now they are a total fish out of water. They have entirely bought and internalized the indoctrination they were raised on. Despite leading a life consisting almost exclusively of hard labor they are very sheltered. They are clueless to: the realities of life beneath the spire, the cruelty of what has been done to her, and the betrayal the gremlins faced.
Consequently she will likely come across as: Bratty, naive, emotional, impatient and self-deluded.
What are their strengths?
She is naturally curious, which could arguably just as much be a weakness as a strength. Her augmentation and modifications allow her to survive in harsh conditions. It has also afforded her the ability to attune herself to machinery and biology alike with only a touch, along with the sharp intellect, education and problem solving to put what she can intuit through her abilities to good use.
Society
Where is your character in society? How do they feel about this?As a fairy, Ethel is little more than a serf. Though, through thorough indoctrination Ethel and the majority of the other Fairies see this not as a curse, but an ordained purpose. Their suffering is righteous and their cause right. Ethel has bought this conditioning hook, line, and sinker. They see themself as a beautifully crafted tool, working fervently to support a paradise they themself will never get to see. In death, they are to be rewarded, awaited deep bellow on the earth, where they shall sprout into something beautiful and free, that might someday allow mankind to once again return to the surface.
